What do you say eternal life is?
Do you remember how Jesus defined eternal life? Just before His betrayal, in His prayer for His disciples (all of us!), Jesus summed it up so we shouldn’t forget it:
“This is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” (John 17:3)
With those words, Jesus places into our hands the key to experiencing the abundant life He purchased for us.
Eternal life is a NOW reality that is experienced in KNOWING God, NOT knowing about God. It’s an even greater reality because of Jesus…not just because He provided eternal life for us, but because to know Jesus is to know the Father.
It’s NOT in knowing about…it’s about knowing!
“To know” is the Greek work ginosko (Strong’s 1097), and it means:
to come to know, recognize, perceive, especially through personal experience (first-hand acquaintance, “experientially know”). It’s the word Mary spoke when she encountered the angel.
“And Mary said to the angel, “How will this be since I do not know a man?” (Luke 1:34)
Eternal Life: Experiencing God Now
God desires to share life with His children. It’s what we were created for.
Remember…
It’s what He was doing with Adam and Eve.
It was the basis of His covenant with Abraham.
It’s how He led Israel out of captivity.
It’s why He sent Jesus to us!
Have you received the eternal life Jesus offers? If you have, in what measure are you experiencing that eternal life now? Is it enough? Do you have room for more?
Pursue a living, active relationship to KNOW God, the One who knows you best and who has the best in store for you…
NOW!
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory. (Eph. 3:20-21)
